7 Ice and Snow Removal Hacks You Need to Know

You've got to run an errand but the snow has piled up in your driveway. You might've shoveled a thousand times, but the snowfall keeps getting worse.


Perhaps, daily shoveling is sucking you dry, but you've no other choice. We know how snow removal can become a major hassle during winters.


But hey, you can get rid of that white stuff using unconventional methods. Give your shovel some rest and follow these hacks for ice and snow removal:


1. Blow the snow: Don't stock your broom closet with a leaf blower. You can use it to blow the ice from  driveways, walkways, and steps. Upgrade to snow blower for removing wetter snow.


2. Scotch on the snow?!: Any form of alcohol including rum, vodka or gin could work wonders. Rub the alcohol using rags or simple spray on the surface.


3. A pinch of salt: Deice the windows or car windshields using table salt. Simply fill an old sock with table salt and rub the surface prior to snowfall.


This action will prevent the formation of hard frost. However, make sure to use this method on a frequent basis. Regular use can damage the windshield.


4. Melting moments: It's a delight to see the snow melting away. So why wait till spring? Now melt the snow away use warm water. Pour it on a snowclad surface like cars, walkways, driveways, etc. and see the magic!


5. Cover it up: Looking for a way to speedy snow removal? Try using a plastic cover or tarpaulin cloth. If the weather forecast predicts snowfall, just spread the tarp on cars, walkways or driveways.

After the snowfall, you can remove the tarp. This is one of the easiest ways to get rid of snow.


6. Vacuum the snow: A vacuum cleaner for snow removal? Sounds absurd, eh? But it has got superior power to remove snow.

Vacuum snow from windows, doors and other areas of the house and dump it on different places.


7. Utilize your medical cabinet: It's about time to start using your medicine cabinet for other purposes too.

You can use rubbing alcohol for defrosting windows and doors. Post rubbing, dry the surfaces using a towel. It will also prevent fogging on windows.
